Here are some must-haves for any vacation rentals and also some extras that give a little something unexpected to your guests.
We won’t include the mandatory items like fire extinguishers or smoke detectors but make sure you check what’s necessary for your area.
Check our guide from room to room, and walk with us.
Entrance
It’s preferable to have a small table, some doormats inside and outside, and a coat rack if there’s no space for a small closet.
Living Room
A comfy sofa, sofa bed or love seats are a must, how many depends on how many guests you can have, and the coffee table is a must, along with some entertainment like a TV with a blue ray player.
Wifi is a must, and if possible some interesting books and maybe some card games or board games.
Bedroom
If you only have one bedroom, double beds would work best, it’s easier to put them together than splitting a bed if the guests are not a couple. A dresser, closet with hangers, some curtains for privacy, a clock, and always have extra pair of blankets, linens, and pillows, you can read about our bedding tips in our main website’s blog.
Also, a mirror helps not only in the bathroom but in the bedroom as well, along with your typical side tables and lamps.
Bathroom
Always have extra stock for toilet paper, and have your typical hotel amenities like a hairdryer, soap, shampoo, and extra towels.
Seems obvious but not everybody has shower curtains, that’s a must so they don’t splash the whole bathroom and cause an accident.
For any emergencies a plunger and toilet brush.
Kitchen
It’s best to have all the basics for cooking like pans, pots, tongs, spatulas, graters, peelers, stirring spoons, scissors, cups to measure, and cleaning supplies like soap and a drying cloth.
Make sure your garbage can is clean, and your microwave is as well.
Have some salt and pepper at hand, glassware and mugs are a must.
As an extra having coffee or tea along with their add-ons like sugar, creamer, and such is always a nice touch and an expected one as well.
Dining Area
A nice dining table along with some beautiful seating is necessary and as an extra touch some decor like flowers on a vase.
Miscellaneous
Cleaning supplies like a mop, garbage bags, vacuum cleaners, broom, spray cleaners, and sponges.
An iron and ironing board along with a laundry basket is very handy.
As an extra instruction for any device and a map or pamphlet with some tourist information.
Tips
Make sure you check out the competition to see what things they offer that you don’t and try to provide the same.
Extra touches like beach towels or anything related to an activity that’s near your rental are nice touches or in some cases even considered standard for that area.
