Safety is a top priority for you or your property manager and for your guests. Here are a few tips so you can keep your rental safe.
Emergency Safety Card
Place this card in the refrigeration or an easy-to-spot location where it displays the property address in case of an emergency.
The first aid kit and fire extinguishers location and electrical and gas shut-off locations as well.
Check Smoke Detectors
You have to install smoke detectors in every bedroom and in the hallway outside of the bedrooms. Also, they have to be 10 feet away from any cooking appliances just to prevent any false alarms.
Make sure they are interconnected so they will all trigger if they detect smoke.
Reduce Fire Hazards
In case you have some appliances or amenities that can be unfamiliar to your guest, it is required to leave instructions for them to use and avoid any accidents, like a fireplace or stove or anything related to fire. Of course, you need a fire extinguisher close to these appliances and easily accessible. Avoid having candles just to prevent any accidents.
Any trip hazard as well should be avoided, especially extension cords.
If you have outlets near water appliances like sinks, showers, etc. make sure they are inspected by a pro so they are up to code.
Secure Furniture
The number one complaint for vacation rentals is about tripping hazards so secure your rugs or avoid them if they are not necessary.
Also make sure that any furniture that can be knocked off or any décor is mounted properly or secured since children can cause an accident, better to be prepared and avoid any hazards.
